"The wildlife here in Florida is absolutely amazing, especially when thousands of migrating birds have returned for the winter. All my paintings and sculptures come from my real life experiences in the wild, except for a few from zoo experiences. I hope to travel to different countries and see all the different wildlife in their natural habitats and capture it on canvas and film."

About the Artist - Karen King

Karen King is a self taught artist who was born near Chicago and grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. She began drawing and painting at an early age because of her love for horses and animals. Later, she moved to Newton, Iowa where she lived for 30 years. Most of those years were spent living and working on an Iowa farm raising corn, soybeans, cattle, hogs, horses, sheep, goats, and three children. Many nights were spent in the barn helping a ewe to lamb or a doe to kid. Times like this have inspired the paintings which came from her love of farm life.

In 2001 she moved to the Orlando, Florida area to pursue a business career in faux finishing and murals. She started her own business and has painted murals and decorated walls all over Central Florida. Since moving to Florida, Karen also became interested in the local wildlife and now spends time out in the wild photographing and video taping wildlife at local wildlife refuges.
